As an avid bowler, he won many trophies and became a coach for Little League Baseball. Two of his favorite hobbies were bowling and baseball. He was a Pioneer for the Bell South Company, a member of the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). After the Korean War, Phil worked for the Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph Company for 38 years. Phil attended Florida State University (FSU) in 1949 before being called to serve his country, during the Korean War, in the United States Army as a Forward Observer, Artillery Branch for two years.
